Ohio University's chief procurement officer, Frank Corris, is encouraging faculty and staff to sign up for the Emerald Club, a program offered through Enterprise Rent-A-Car and National Car Rental that provides frequent renters with low prices and other membership benefits.
Enterprise and National both have preferred partner status with the university, which is a member of the Educational & Institutional Collaborative -- a not-for-profit buying cooperative made up of about 1,600 schools and hospitals that achieves savings by leveraging purchasing power.
The Emerald Club provides an opportunity for employees to enjoy benefits in addition to the savings that come from the preferred partner agreement. The benefits of the program include an expedited online reservation process via Concur, access to an exclusive member services hotline and members-only counters with pre-printed rental agreements at more than 400 airports in the United States and Canada.
According to Corris, this is a good program for any employee who needs a rental car mostly because of the counter bypass option and the ability to choose any car in the Emerald Club section.
"If a large car is available the university still only pays for a mid-sized car," he said. "Additionally, both Enterprise and National rental car receipts are automatically exported into Concur with zero effort on the part of the employee. Employees must remember to add their Emerald Club number into their Concur profile in order to automate the reservation process."
