Punch Brothers to perform April 2 Mar 26, 2009
Music lovers of all kinds will not want to miss the Punch Brothers, featuring Grammy Award-winning Chris Thile of Nickelcreek, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2, in Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium. The show is presented through Ohio University’s Performing Arts Series.
The young band mates -- with a name taken from the Mark Twain short story “Punch, Brothers, Punch!” -- are among the most in-demand performers in the worlds of bluegrass, folk and traditional music. They incorporate instruments such as the mandolin, violin, banjo, guitar and bass in a style that The New York Times described as “American country-classical chamber music.”
Tickets are $10 for students, $18 for seniors and $20 for general admission. Tickets can be purchased at the Memorial Auditorium ticket office (740-593-1780) or by visiting www.ohio.edu/performingarts/tickets.cfm.
