Memo details health plan design changes
Mar 4, 2009
In a memo e-mailed to faculty and staff this morning, Director of Benefits Greg Fialko shared details about plans to change the status of Holzer Clinic and Holzer Hospital within Ohio University’s health plan, effective July 1.
The memo notes that a recent review of costs associated with primary care indicated that care provided by Holzer costs the employee health plan 35 percent more than primary care provided by other health care providers. The analysis also revealed higher fees for specialty and other care provided by Holzer.
As a result, Holzer Clinic and Holzer Hospital will be considered a Tier 2 provider within the employee health plan. The designation will pertain to all Holzer locations, including but not limited to locations in Athens, Pomeroy, Jackson, Gallipolis, Sycamore and Lawrence.
The full memo and a chart noting plan design changes known at this time appear on the University Human Resources Web site.
