Research policies updated

Two policies related to research involving human or animal subjects were approved on May 21.
Policy 19.049 lays out guidelines for the humane care and use of laboratory animals, while policy 19.052 puts forward a similar set of guidelines for research projects involving human subjects.
According to Director of Research Compliance Jo Ellen Sherow, the changes reflect efforts to mirror the latest federal regulations and to streamline the policy by eliminating unnecessary details. The revisions also include updated university job titles.
