On Saturday, June 13, eight members of the first class of Urban Scholars will become the first graduates of the scholarship program that Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis created in 2005 with assistance from former university trustee Patricia Ackerman.
The historic graduating class consists of: Micah Brown, Catherine Cain, Steven Collier, Sherrell Davis, Tiera Evans, Alyssa Green, Ashley Mitchell and Angelic Pinckney.
In this video, several of the soon-to-be alumni share their thoughts on the Urban Scholars program, what they'll miss most about OHIO and their future plans.
The Urban Scholars scholarship, which is valued at $14,900, provides opportunities for Ohio's urban high school students with excellent academic achievement and financial need.
