Registration is open for the second annual Engineers Frostbite 5K walk/run, co-sponsored by the Ohio University Russ College of Engineering and Technology and local engineering firm Pickering Associates. The run will take place Sat., Feb. 21 at 9 a.m. Participants of all ages are welcome.
Proceeds from the run, which celebrates National Engineers Week from Feb. 15-21, will be used to create Russ College scholarships at Ohio University.
The course encircles the Ohio University campus, beginning at Oxbow Trail and South Green Drive near Walter Hall.
Participants may register at www.engineersfrostbite5k.com. The entry fee is $25 until Feb. 20 and $30 on race day. Registered racers can pick up information packets at Hibbett Sports, 935 E. State St., Athens, from Feb. 19-20, or on race day inside Walter Hall.
All registered participants will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt. The first 30 male and 30 female finishers will be rewarded with a 2009 Engineers Frostbite 5K mug. Other awards will go to the fastest student group and the runner who travels the farthest to participate.
Partners for the race include AEP Ohio, Reliable Controls and State Electric Supply Co.
