Celebrating his legacy OHIO march, speaker honor King's message Jan 20, 2009
Ohio University celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day on campus Monday with a silent march across College Green and a commemorative brunch in the Baker University Center Ballroom. About 60 people marched in honor of King, who led many silent marches to promote peace and justice during the black civil rights movement of the 1960s. Brunch keynote speaker Joe Rogers, former lieutenant governor of Colorado, invoked memories of King during his Dream Alive presentation. Rogers re-enacted a portion of King's "I Have a Dream" speech and inspired the crowd of more than 350 people to use King's messages to make a difference in the world today.
