Preparing for the cold Jan 16, 2009
With sub-zero temperatures a reality, Facilities Management is asking members of the university community to shut all windows and remove any items near the heating equipment before leaving the office at the end of the day.
Facilities staff will be working to regulate temperatures through during the weekend and checking equipment in an attempt to avoid freeze-related emergencies. Facilities staff will be working during nights that have a forecast of single-digit temperatures.
Students should keep personal belongings away from heating units and call Facilities Management at 593-2911 if a problem develops. Maintenance staff may be working each of the three (East, West, South) dormitory areas any time the temperatures drop to single digits. Facilities staff are asking everyone to have patience and dress warmly. Heating equipment is working at maximum capacity and temperatures are expected to rise by Monday.
