From staff reports
How has the national recession affected state and Ohio University finances? How are budget decisions made? Where can money-saving suggestions be submitted?
To answer those questions and others, Ohio University has launched a Budget Update Web site, a one-stop resource center for faculty, staff, students and administrators. On the site, visitors will find the latest news from the Governor's Budget Office and the Ohio Board of Regents, FAQs on the status of scholarships, initiatives undertaken by other public higher education institutions, and Ohio University's budget preparation and planning efforts.
"The purpose of this Web site is to provide one presence for quick and easy access to accurate information about the current economic situation and how it could potentially impact the Ohio University community,'' President Roderick J. McDavis wrote in a President's Message on the site.
"As we receive news from our state leaders and others, we will continue to update this site with timely, accurate information,'' he added.
In addition to PowerPoint presentations, the Web site includes links to departments with budget responsibilities, an archive of Outlook stories on budget issues and links to outside media stories, including those appearing in the Chronicle of Higher Education, the Columbus Dispatch and the Toledo Blade.
