BPC proposes wage freeze, health plan changes Feb 27, 2009
Ohio University's Budget Planning Council (BPC) issued recommendations Friday to help close a projected multimillion dollar deficit in fiscal 2010.
The recommendations, highlighted in a memo to faculty and staff from Executive Vice President and Provost Kathy Krendl and Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration Bill Decatur, who co-chair BPC, call for:
- Freezing salaries in fiscal 2010, with the exception of employees who are contractually obligated to receive raises, and postponing a $1.2 million investment in raising faculty salaries.
- Adopting measures to reduce health care costs by $3 million annually.
- Implementing enhancements to the health care plan recommended by the Benefits Advisory Committee, including improvements to vision, dental and mental health coverage.
