President Roderick J. McDavis issued an open letter to Faculty Senate Chair Sergio Lopez-Permouth on Tuesday announcing plans to dissolve the committee he had previously formed to lead the search for Executive Vice President and Provost Kathy Krendl's successor. McDavis noted that he is forming a reconstituted committee in response to Faculty Senate concerns and out of his commitment to ensure the university community's confidence in the search process.
Distinguished Professor Tad Malinski, chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, will chair the new committee. It will consist of 14 members, including eight faculty members.
Faculty Senate had objected to the size of the committee and percentage of faculty members invited to serve. Rebecca Watts, chief of staff and special assistant to the president, said the 14 invitees all are among the 30 previously invited to serve on the committee.
