A little history -- for Founders Day [video] Feb 3, 2009
Ohio University was founded by a Revolutionary War general who served under George Washington and a Renaissance man who boldly petitioned the Continental Congress for the land on which the institution was built. Here, Sam Crowl, retired trustee professor of English, recounts more about Ohio University's inception, which he says is inextricably linked to the founding of the United States of America.
This Friday, the university community will revisit the pioneering spirit of Ohio University's visionary founders at the annual Founders Day convocation, which will begin at 10 a.m. in the Margaret M. Walter Hall Rotunda. All faculty and staff are encouraged to join in the celebration of Ohio University's distinguished legacy and promising future.
