Minimum wage to increase for student workers

Dec 4, 2008

Effective Jan. 1, the minimum wage in Ohio will increase to $7.30 per hour, from $7 per hour, for non-tipped employees. For employees receiving tips, the hourly wage will increase to $3.65, from $3.50.

The increase will be reflected in student paychecks issued on Jan. 16, 2009, for the pay period beginning Dec. 21, 2008, according to a University Human Resources and Payroll release.

Questions regarding the increase should be directed to Janice Gieseking in the payroll department at 593-1859. More information is also available on the University Human Resources Web site at www.ohio.edu/hr/employment/student.cfm
