Sick and bereavement leave policy for classified employees updated

A revised version of Ohio University Policy 40.030, which governs the accrual and use of sick and bereavement leave and the conversion and payment of unused sick leave upon the retirement or death of an employee, was approved on June 12.
According to University Human Resources, the most significant revisions include the addition of qualifying domestic partners, including partners of the opposite sex, for sick leave benefits and switching time reporting for classified employees to an online system.
The revised policy also includes guidelines for transferring accumulated sick leave from one state or local public agency to another.
