Rebecca Vazquez Skillings has been named director of budget planning and analysis. She succeeds Darrell Winefordner, who is retiring on Oct. 31.
Skillings previously held the position of chief for special projects at the Office of Budget and Management for the state of Ohio.
Here, she works in the Office of Vice President for Finance and Administration Bill Decatur and is responsible for coordinating the university's budget planning process, monitoring and managing the budget, developing financial models to analyze and allocate budgetary resources and evolving the budget methodology to support the university's strategic goals and priorities. She began work Sept. 10.
Skillings holds a master of public administration from Ohio State University and a bachelor of arts in international studies from Kenyon College. In addition to the Office of Budget and Management, she has worked for the Ohio governor's office and the Ohio Department of Human Services.
"Higher education has been a longstanding area of interest that was reinforced and deepened during my tenure at the Office of Budget and Management," she said. "I am excited both by the opportunity to bring a benefit to the university during this season of change and to grow professionally."
An Ohio native, Skillings was born in Dayton and grew up in Beachwood. She and her husband, Mark, have one daughter, Katherine.
