Ohio University-Eastern Dean Paul Bibbins Jr. has announced his resignation, effective Dec. 31, to accept a position as president of a private nonprofit educational foundation in Virginia. Bibbins has led the St. Clairsville campus since 2004.
Associate Vice President for Outreach Bill Willan, who served as interim dean of the Eastern campus prior to Bibbins' appointment, said a decision will be made soon on the process for determining a successor.
"I would like to offer my thanks to everyone at the university and in our community for their support during my tenure at Eastern," Bibbins said.
Prior to joining Ohio University, Bibbins was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and a professor of biology at Kentucky State University, where he also served as interim president.
The Eastern campus, which is marking its 50th anniversary this year, offers associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees in a variety of disciplines and has an enrollment of about 750 students.
