From staff reports
The Thursday morning fire at Haning Hall started when university workers using a blowtorch accidentally ignited debris in an attic air handler while doing routine repairs, said David Hopka, associate vice president for safety and risk management.
The fire was quickly contained and caused only minor water damage to some ceiling tiles in the building. A residual smell of smoke is expected to dissipate within a few weeks.
