Matt and Haroon: Their world, their stories
One in a series of International Week videos

May 12, 2008
From staff reports

Ohio University's global community of students, faculty and staff represents more than 100 countries -- and each individual has a unique and special place within it.

In keeping with the spirit and theme of the International Week celebration, "Your World, Your Story," Outlook invited nine individuals -- some from other countries, some from the United States with international experiences -- to interview one another on camera. Excerpts from their conversations focus on their personal experiences here and abroad as well as what makes Ohio University a place they can call home.

Today's video features Cleveland native Matt Rapposelli and Haroon Rashid, originally from Nagarhar, Sherzad, Afghanistan.

Matt is Ohio University's executive chef, meaning he oversees all culinary ventures for Dining Services. A former European bakery owner, Rapposelli has a passion for international cuisine and plays a significant role in the International Student Union's annual International Dinner and similar events.

Haroon is a master's student in Ohio University's School of Media Arts and Studies. Rashid studied in Japan, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan and India prior to coming to the United States and Ohio University. He will graduate in May with a doctorate in media management.
