Ohio University Police investigating early morning incident Mar 9, 2008 By Sally Linder
The Ohio University Police Department is investigating a report that came in early Sunday of a random gunshot fired near a campus residence hall. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
At about 3:30 a.m. Sunday (daylight saving time), according to a witness report about 15 minutes later, a white male shot a pistol shot into the air near the front of Brown Hall on South Green. The shot was not aimed at a person or object, and no one was injured. The witness, who gave the report to an officer on patrol, reported that the man left the area immediately after.
As of early morning, no one else had reported the incident. Police continue to investigate the circumstances and search for a suspect.
The person with the gun was described as follows: a white male, 5’10” to 6’ tall, of college age with a gray North Face jacket and gray or dark sweat pants. He had a sweatshirt hood or cap without a brim pulled over his head.
