Ohio University Auxiliary Services has announced the appointment of Kristin Steckmesser as director of conference services. She is responsible for the overall administration, management and development of Ohio University's comprehensive conference services program, a consolidation of several formerly separate conference resources.
"The conference services office has combined and consolidated several campus conference resources into one shared service, improving the ease of use for the campus community," said Christine Sheets, assistant vice president for auxiliary services. "The end goal is to provide a 'one-stop-shop' for meeting and event planners across campus.
"Kristin comes to the university with extensive experience in conference and event management," Sheets added.
As part of her duties, Steckmesser oversees the coordination of conference planning and development, including budget preparation, facilities scheduling, food service, staffing, events management, registration, marketing and service assessment to the university community and beyond.
"I am excited to begin our development of this new one-stop service for the university community," Steckmesser said. "We are eager to meet conference and event planners across campus and throughout the community to begin identifying their needs and plan for the future."
Steckmesser completed her bachelor of business administration degree at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 2002 and her MBA at Butler University in Indianapolis in 2005. Before joining Ohio University, she was assistant director of championships for the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
Steckmesser and the conference services staff arrange full-service conferences for the university, Athens community and local, state and regional guests. An Ohio University affiliation is not required. The conference services office is located in L-5 Bromley Hall and can be reached at 740-566-9700.
