Summer quarter has made some tight schedules a little easier, which brings cleaning to mind. Remember that Campus Recycling can ease the task of end-of-year cleaning. Typically, 80 percent or more of what is disposed of on the Athens campus is made up of recoverable materials. Campus Recycling will help offices dispose of both recyclable and reusable items.
Containers can be delivered to any university offices and/or storage areas to provide extra capacity for disposing of undesired recyclables and reusables. Once the containers are full, offices may call Campus Recycling to pick them up.
To arrange for containers, call the Facilities Management customer service desk at 740-593-2911 or make a request using the online form at https://www.facilities.ohiou.edu/requests/login.php
Most office staffs know to contact the moving and surplus management office to dispose of sellable items they no longer need. Campus Recycling provides the same service for smaller items that may not be appropriate to sell, such as unfilled notebooks and other school and art supplies, hangers and computer disks. Just leave the reusable items in the work bin along with recyclables or request a bin for recyclables and a bin for reusables.
If papers contain confidential information, keep the confidential materials separate and mark them as confidential. Campus Recycling will pick them up and dispose of the confidential material in an appropriate manner. As an alternative, offices may contact Information Destruction Services Inc. at 740-593-5316. Please note, there is a fee for employing Information Destruction Services.
Remember, recycling and reusing items that are no longer needed reduces waste, benefits the local economy and helps people in need. Call the Campus Recycling and Refuse office at 740-593-0231 for more information.
