Administrative Senate today re-elected Chair Brenda Noftz and named three others to executive officer posts for 2008-09. Their one-year terms are effective immediately.
In addition to Noftz, the senate's executive committee includes Beth Lydic, vice chair; Lisa Kamody, secretary; and Doug Grammer, treasurer.
In other business, the senate voted to draft a letter to the Board of Trustees expressing concern about President Roderick J. McDavis' recent raise. Trustees voted in June to grant McDavis a new five-year contract and increase his salary by $85,336 for the 2008-2009 academic year.
Several senators said the increase sends the wrong message to the university community during difficult fiscal times. Some said they didn't question whether the raise was deserved, but that they would like to know in more detail what criteria in the president's performance evaluation served as the basis for trustees' decision on the raise.
Administrative Senate will meet next at 10 a.m. Sept. 18, when it will hold its annual retreat.
