This week, two Ohio University athletes, senior cross country runner Craig Leon and senior basketball player Lauren Kohn, were named academic All-Americans based on their skills in the classroom and in competition.
Leon, a Van Wert, Ohio, native, was named to the Academic All-American Team by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
He is seeking his master's degree in sports administration after graduating cum laude with a bachelor's degree in integrated language arts last spring.
Kohn, a native of Adrian, Mich., was named to the 2007-08 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Women's Basketball Second Team, which is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
With the honor, she became only the second Ohio women's basketball player to ever receive an Academic All-American status. She has a cumulative GPA of 3.82 and is a communications and public advocacy major.
