National Book Award finalist Dan Chaon will give a public reading of his work at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Galbreath Chapel. A reception and book signing will follow.
As part of a short residency at Ohio University from Wednesday through Friday, Chaon also will visit an undergraduate fiction class, hold a workshop for graduate students and meet with fiction graduate students for individual discussions.
His books include the novel "You Remind Me of Me," a national bestseller, and two collections of short stories, "Fitting Ends" and "Among the Missing." The latter was a finalist for the 2001 National Book Award.
Chaon's stories have appeared in many journals and anthologies, including Best American Short Stories of 1996 and 2003; The Pushcart Prize 2000, 2002 and 2003; and the O'Henry Prize Stories 2001. His fiction was considered for the National Magazine Award in Fiction in 2002 and 2007, and he earned the 2006 Academy Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He holds a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University and a master's degree from Syracuse University.
Chaon is the director of creative writing at Oberlin College.
