Ohio University-Chillicothe faculty member Ken Breidenbaugh packed up his car last summer to set out on his very own road trip with one thing in mind (capturing the heart and beauty of Southern Ohio) and one thing in his hand (his camera).
Breidenbaugh took some 3,000 photos, 70 of which are now on display in the Patricia Scott Gallery in Bennett Hall at Ohio University-Chillicothe through April 30.
The exhibit is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays.
"This was just so much fun," Breidenbaugh said. "The area is so photogenic and I really wanted to show the unique beauty of all the old architecture in the region and the simple aesthetics of the light and landscapes."
Breidenbaugh said it was difficult to pick only 70 photos. He chose not to crop or enhance the photos because he wanted to show people "the real thing."
"The area is an endless opportunity of composition and subject matter," Breidenbaugh said. "It was a pure indulgence. One of life's greatest pleasures is driving in your car in the summertime all by yourself. I hope that people enjoy it as much as I have."
Breidenbaugh, an assistant professor of fine and comparative arts and director of the campus' theater program, has been a faculty member at Ohio University-Chilicothe since 1989.
