The university's "Live to Drum" world drumming parties are moving outdoors for spring quarter.
Drummers of all ages and skill levels are invited to join in the fun (and stress relief) from noon to 1 p.m. every Tuesday beginning next week on the West Portico of Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.
World percussion expert and Associate Professor of Multicultural Music Education Paschal Yao Younge leads the sessions. He also serves as co-artistic director of the Ohio University African Ensemble.
The School of Music, Center for International Studies, Multicultural Center and Ohio Valley International Council sponsor the sessions, which OVIC Director Laura Schaeffer describes as a "celebration of life."
"No matter the age, status or experience as a drummer, everyone is welcome to join the party," she said. "Moving it outside this quarter will add to the feeling of rejuvenation this spring."
The parties are free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to bring their own drums, but extra drums will be available at the West Portico.
