The Ohio University community is grieving the loss of Marc Kidby, an administrative associate in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. A native of England, Kidby died Tuesday morning at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.
Kidby, who earned a bachelor of science in communication degree from the university in 2003, had worked in Research and Sponsored Programs since June 2006.
"On the job, Marc was a dependable, quick learner who served as the office's unofficial techie," said Shane Gilkey, assistant vice president for research and sponsored programs. "He was just a good guy who took on every challenge we presented to him. He was a pleasure to be around and was a valuable asset to the office."
Kidby's job duties included management of the office's Research Challenge Program, which awards faculty seed money for research, and administrative support responsibilities.
Before joining Research and Sponsored Programs, he served in a part-time capacity in the Office of Information Technology and as an office services technician in the Department of English.
Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services offers grief counseling to anyone close to Kidby who wishes to speak with a counselor. Those interested may visit Hudson Health Center weekdays between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. or call 740-593-1616.
