ATHENS, Ohio (Oct. 10, 2006) -- For the third consecutive year, Ohio University Sports Administration alumni and leaders within the sports industry will meet with Ohio University students for the annual Career Development Seminar. The seminar will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, at Margaret M. Walter Hall. Bob DiBiasio, vice president of public relations for the Cleveland Indians, will conclude the event with a keynote address from 7 to 8 p.m.
"The intent of the seminar is to provide students with a greater understanding of the sports business industry and the career opportunities that will be available after graduation," said Jim Kahler, executive director of the Center for Sports Administration at Ohio University.
The event is geared toward students and will address many important topics about professional and intercollegiate sports, as well as facilities and outsourcing. The workshop aims to present students with an inside perspective on what it is like to work in the business and understand the skill sets, attitudes and behaviors that these industry experts used to get where they are today.
The event has garnered interest from a variety of industry experts, including three Ohio University sports administration alumni -- two graduate (Rob Staverman and Steven Rackley) and one undergraduate (Doug Dawson). The event is presented by Follett's University Bookstore.
