On Thursday, May 17, from 7 to 9 p.m., the Ohio University Academic Calendar and System Committee will host its last in a series of open meetings regarding the academic calendar. The event will be held in Walter Hall 135.
The committee is seeking input from members of the Athens community as well as university faculty, students and staff regarding two important issues:
- whether there is a need to change when the academic year begins and ends and the timing of breaks during the year
- which calendar system (quarters or semesters) is optimal for Ohio University
The floor will be open to anyone with comments. "We want to be sure we include the community in these discussions, and we want to give people a chance to ask questions, give us suggestions and share their opinions," said Phyllis Bernt, the chair of the committee.
All are welcome to attend. Suggestions may also be sent to acadcalendar@ohio.edu.
The committee is to submit recommendations about the calendar to President McDavis by the end of the summer.
