Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis will share how the latest budget news from Columbus could benefit Ohio University and will announce new plans regarding the university's academic priorities during an address to the campus at noon Monday, May 7, in Baker University Center Ballroom B.
"Governor Strickland has focused policymakers on the urgent need to support higher education in Ohio, and House Speaker Husted has introduced a very positive budget bill," McDavis said. "I am encouraged by these developments, and I want to talk with the campus about what this means for the university and how we will invest any additional new resources from the state."
McDavis said he also will talk about some changes he will introduce to strengthen Ohio's educational programs.
"I am excited about these new plans regarding the university's academic priorities, and I look forward to sharing them with faculty, staff and students on Monday," he said. "Ohio University has a proud history of academic excellence. I am inviting the campus community to join me in working together long-term to advance that excellence."
McDavis' address can be viewed through a live Webcast available from the university's front door at www.ohio.edu.
The news media is invited to attend a media briefing immediately after the speech in the president's dining room on the fourth floor of Baker University Center.
