ATHENS, Ohio (March 7, 2007) -- Ohio University's College of Fine Arts has named Dora Wilson as the director of the School of Interdisciplinary Arts, effective March 26. She brings a wealth of leadership experience and institutional memory to this position. Wilson came to Ohio University in 1984 and served as dean of the College of Fine Arts for 11 years. Since that time, she has taught undergraduate and graduate classes in both the School of Music and the School of Interdisciplinary Arts.
Her role in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts goes beyond classroom teaching, as she also has served as an interim director of the school and a mentor to junior faculty. Her knowledge and close association with this unique Ph.D. program will enhance and further the goals and aspirations of its faculty and students as they continue to move forward in their scholarly pursuits.
Wilson is replacing William Condee who is stepping down from the director's position at the end of winter quarter to devote more time to his new role as the J. Richard Hamilton/Hostetler and Baker Professor of Humanities in the Charles J. Ping Institute for the Teaching of Humanities.
