ATHENS, Ohio (March 1, 2007) -- The Kennedy Museum of Art at the Ridges turns 10 this academic year. To celebrate, KMA staff challenge Ohio students and community members to help bring in 10,000 visitors before the end of spring quarter.
From now to June, all KMA visitors can enter monthly drawings for such prizes as an iPod Nano or a $100 gift certificate to our Native American jewelry sale on Moms Weekend. The 500th and each thousandth visitor also win a guided behind-the-scenes tour of the Kennedy Museum of Art.
The Kennedy Museum recently opened a new exhibit, "Behind the Mask: African Art from the Ellen Hobbs Collection and the Kennedy Museum of Art," which explores masks from West and Central Africa. Also on display: "Weaving is Life," featuring four generations of Navajo weavers, and "Truth in Looking," iconic images by James Karales, photojournalist of the Civil Rights Movement.
Entry and parking to all museum events is free. The CATS shuttle, running weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., stops at the museum doors every half hour. Visit www.facilities.ohiou.edu/cats for CATS stops and schedules.
