ATHENS, Ohio (Jan. 4, 2007) -- Here's your chance to support local musicians and enrich your cultural experiences in Ross County. The Cultural Committee of Ohio University Chillicothe is hosting a free concert by local band Lunarium.
Lunarium will perform on Saturday, Jan. 20, in Bennett Hall Auditorium on the Ohio University-Chillicothe campus. The concert begins at 8 p.m.
Lunarium is a Celtic folk metal group from Ohio formed in late 2005. The musical influences of each member span a broad spectrum of musical genres and have helped to create this new energetic and melodically driven breed of hybrid metal known as Lunarium.
Epic style song structure, 'catchy' melodies, dramatic sweeping dirges, fantastical lyrics, and sing-a-long vocal patterns can all be found as the backbone of Lunarium musical architecture. Such bands as Blind Guardian, Into Eternity, Slayer, Flogging Molly, and Slough Feg, as well as many others, could all be associated in some way to the sound of this group of eclectic personalities.
Opening the concert is the Rhythm Stitches, an acoustic ska-punk band.
Go ahead, try something different! The OU-C Cultural Committee has several upcoming events planned including the annual Kennedy Lectures Series, poetry reading with the Kerouac Society, and a performance by the Reel World String Band.
