ATHENS, Ohio (Feb. 28, 2007) -- Ohio University and AFSCME issued a joint statement today, stating the following:
"Ohio University and Ohio Council 8, AFSCME Local 1699, have completed an extensive negotiations process and have successfully negotiated a tentatively agreed-upon three (3) year agreement, which the union will recommend for ratification at 4 p.m. this evening."
Results of the vote are slated to be available this evening.

The current contract expires at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2007.
The union represents approximately 645 employees on the Athens campus, 18 at Zanesville and eight at Chillicothe. The bargaining unit employees are employed in service and maintenance work.
