Follett selected as bookstore vendor at regional campuses
ATHENS, Ohio (Feb. 19, 2007) -- As the result of an open bid process managed by Ohio University's purchasing department, Follett has been selected as the vendor for bookstores at the Ohio University regional campuses.
Ohio University has issued a letter of intent to proceed with preliminary work effective Feb. 5 and to complete preliminary work by June 8, at which time the bookstore contract with Follett will be in effect.
The bid process to identify a bookstore vendor was initiated as a result of a review of business processes on the regional campuses. Follett was selected by a committee solely on the basis of submitting a superior proposal, which included greater financial benefits to the regional campuses and a high level of service through promised availability of textbooks and other bookstore items, and a vigorous on-line bookselling system.
Current booksellers have agreed to serve campuses at least through spring quarter 2007.
