ATHENS, Ohio (Feb. 15, 2007) -- The International Student Union (ISU) will host its second annual research symposium from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, in the Baker University Center Multipurpose Room.
"The symposium showcases international research conducted by Ohio University students in a format that allows attendees to discuss the research informally with the presenters," said Krista McCallum Beatty, associate director of International Student and Faculty Services. "The topics will be varied as the student presenters represent a cross section of the university."
Students who are either international students or have international research topics will be presenting their findings in a research fair format. The event is open to the public and was attended by approximately 100 students, faculty and staff last year. The symposium is expected to draw even more attendees this year.
Associate Provost for International Affairs Josep Rota, Ph.D., will deliver opening remarks for the symposium.
Research buffs are also asked to save the date for the Student Research and Creative Activity Fair from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. on May 3 in the Convocation Center. More than 400 undergraduate, graduate and medical students and post-doctoral fellows are expected to present their research this year.
Students can sign up to participate by visiting www.ohio.edu/research/students/
