Bobcat football team to leave for Mobile on Jan. 2
ATHENS, Ohio (Dec. 28, 2006) -- All members of the Ohio University and Athens communities are invited to gather at Peden Stadium on Tuesday, Jan. 2, to give the Ohio University football team a rousing send-off to the GMAC Bowl in Mobile, Ala. The team and its traveling party will depart at 7:45 a.m.
The Jan. 7 game against the University of Southern Mississippi is Ohio University's first bowl appearance since 1968.
The Bobcats have an 8-4 record and won the Mid-American Conference East Division with a 7-1 mark. The Bobcats lost the MAC championship game, 31-10, to Central Michigan.
Southern Miss is 9-4 after winning the Conference USA East Division with a 6-2 record and losing to the University of Houston in the conference championship game, 34-20.
