ATHENS, Ohio (April 19, 2007) -- Each of the four candidates for the Ohio University Women's Center director position will present a public lecture. The lectures will be free, and all community members, faculty, staff and students are invited to attend and provide feedback about the candidates' presentations. Each event will take place at 4 p.m. in Walter Hall room 145.
Monday, April 23: Virginia Moran, associate director of the Women's Center at the University of Virginia, will speak on "University Women's Centers: A Conversation on Issues and Missions."
Thursday, April 26: Jennifer Wies, assistant director of the Women's Place at the University of Kentucky, will discuss "Centering Women, Gender and Diversity: Re-Sourcing Power."
Thursday, May 3: Susanne Dietzel, director of the Women's Resource Center at Loyola University, New Orleans, will discuss "Empowering Women, Transforming Institutions."
Monday, May 14: Kendra Smith, a psychologist at the Counseling and Wellness Center at the University of North Carolina, will speak on "Collaborate, Challenge, Celebrate: Creating the Ohio University Women's Center."
