ATHENS, Ohio (April 5, 2007) -- The 2007 Ohio University Masters of Business Administration (MBA) Spring Business Consulting Competition kicked off on April 4. The competition is sponsored by the Ohio Capital Fund.
Unlike traditional business plan competitions, the Ohio University competition focuses on working with high-potential, high-growth firms from around Southeast Ohio to provide, in a competition format, business consulting services.
This year's MBA class of 42 students will divide into 10 teams to work closely with participating businesses over four weeks, providing approximately 2,500 hours of consulting services; including assistance with business planning, operational efficiencies, financing, marketing and information systems.
Businesses involved in this year's competition come from Hocking, Washington, Licking, Noble, Ross, Athens and Muskingum counties. These firms were selected because of their high-growth potential and their ability to contribute to the Appalachian region's economy.
The competition is organized by the Appalachian Regional Entrepreneurship Group (AREG) at Ohio University's Voinovich Center for Leadership and Public Affairs in partnership with the College of Business and is sponsored by the Ohio Capital Fund.
