ATHENS, Ohio (Sept. 24, 2005) -- Members of the Ohio University community presented a check for $21,490.57 to officials of the local chapter of the American Red Cross at Saturday's football game vs. Kent State University at Peden Stadium to assist in disaster relief for hurricane victims.
Students have maintained collection points throughout campus to collect donations since Sept. 12. Members of more than 25 student organizations took an active role in the fundraising campaign.
Also, Ohio Athletics partnered with the Red Cross, the Green and White Club, Master of Business Administration/Master of Sports Administration students and Student Senate for a fundraising effort during Ohio University's football game vs. the University of Pittsburgh on Sept. 9 at Peden Stadium.
Student Senate, Faculty Senate, Classified Senate, Administrative Senate and AFSCME provided leadership to the project.
