Welcome -- new first year students in the Class of 2009, new graduate students, students from our regional campuses who will be studying in Athens, transfer students from campuses all across the country, new international students from around the world and all returning students. We've been preparing for your arrival since Commencement and are looking forward to an exciting and productive fall term.

• Over 4,000 new first year students will join our community this fall, the largest entering class in the university's history. Staff in Housing and Residence Life have been working hard to prepare your accommodations and the faculty have been planning for your coursework and advising.
  
  
• Construction on the new University Center is progressing, with a roof, dome and cupola almost complete. The building will open in late 2006. Details, renderings, animation and a webcam are available at www.ohio.edu/universitycenter/.
  
  
• Over 100 new faculty are joining us this year, in schools and departments across the campus. Take a moment to introduce yourself to one or more and welcome them to Ohio University.
  
  
• Coach Frank Solich has taken the reins of the Ohio Football team and is generating excitement for Bobcat fans everywhere. This season promises to be fun with nationally televised games and an expanded TailGreat Park for all to enjoy before games. The first-ever Amazing Res Hall Race will match residence halls against each other to see which hall can get the most fans into Peden.
  
  
• Student Senate President Brian Footer and his team take on the leadership of Student Senate for 2005-06. You can reach any of the officers or your senator by calling 593-4050 or visiting 309 Baker University Center.

But with all of these changes, much remains the same. Here's to fall days on the College Green, coffee on the Front Room patio, intramurals under the lights, talking all night now and then, reading, studying, thinking, debating, writing and wondering. Here's to fall in Athens. Welcome home.
