Fall Career Fair to take place Oct. 12

ATHENS, Ohio (Oct. 11, 2005) -- The fall career search madness will officially begin at the Ohio University Career Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Convocation Center. More than 2,000 students and alumni are expected to attend this event with goals of obtaining a position with one of the companies or just to gain information for future career searches.

At the career fair, more than 90 organizations will meet with individuals to discuss prospective seasonal, internship, cooperative, permanent job opportunities and graduate school. All students and alumni are encouraged to attend because of the broad variety of employment opportunities.

There will be approximately 230 recruiters available to conduct five to 10 minute sessions to screen potential applicants. This is an opportunity for both parties to share information.

After the career fair, there will be a few follow-up interviews at Baker University Center, as well as on-site interview opportunities.

"We will be running a shuttle services from the Baker Center to the Convocation Center for students from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.," said Career Services Assistant Director of Employer Relations Bill Fournier. "We encourage students to research the organizations they are interested in before the event. All students should dress professionally, bring copies of their resume, and be prepared to talk to recruiters. Many students attend the career fair to satisfy a class requirement. These students also will feel much more comfortable with the surroundings if they also dress professionally."
