LANCASTER, Ohio (Nov. 14, 2005) -- Children waited patiently through the official speech making and ribbon snipping. Finally, the playground gate swung open and children raced to shiny new playground equipment to climb, slide and explore. The Lancaster daycare facility, Children of Ohio University Lancaster Campus, celebrated the opening of their new playground Nov. 9.
The opening celebration included a welcome by Lancaster Campus Dean MaryAnn Janosik, a speech about the daycare's history by retired Assistant Director of Student Services Sandy Foster, and a speech from Daycare Coordinator Jodi Hughes. Pat Fox, Enrollment Manager in Student Services, introduced the guests and offered her thanks to the many people who helped fund, plan and construct the new playground.
"The children watched the construction process, and knew this playground was being built for them," Hughes said. "They could hardly wait to play,"
The playground will be available to the children who attend daycare at the Lancaster Campus and will be locked when not in use. Grant funds that supplied equipment money also supported the purchase of a security camera mounted in the area.
