ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio (Nov. 1, 2005) -- The Rural Principal Preparation Program (RP3) will begin another cohort during summer 2006 at Ohio University's Eastern Campus.
"The program is tailored to those teachers who are interested in attaining both a master's degree and pursuing a career in educational administration," said program director Larry Burgess. "During the two years of course work, students will learn how to lead students and teachers to attain higher levels of learning and excellence," he said.
The program combines traditional and field-based course work with internships. The curriculum covers the background of educational administration as well as research methods, curriculum, and assessment. The field-based courses enable participants to complete projects within their own schools and districts.
An informational meeting is planned for Wednesday, Nov. 16, beginning at 7 p.m. in the 1787 Lounge of Ohio University Eastern's Shannon Hall in St. Clairsville. Dr. Burgess will be on hand to answer questions about the program and its requirements.
