ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio (March 27, 2006) -- Ohio University Eastern Campus will recognize Women's History Month on Thursday, March 30, at 7 p.m. with "A Celebration of Rosa Parks," presented by Janice Raheem. The Pitts Sisters will also be present to add to the celebration with their gospel music. A reception will immediately follow the presentation.
Raheem will speak on Women's Issues of the 21st Century with special interest on honoring Rosa Parks. Raheem is an outspoken community acitivist with strong views on social injustice and women's rights. She is committed to increasing awareness of equal rights.
"We are pleased to have someone of Janice Raheem's caliber speak on the Eastern Campus," said Dennis Fox, Ohio University Eastern theater director. "Her presentation about women's rights and the achievements of Rosa Parks will certainly be a highlight and inspiration to all those in attendance."
Raheem has a degree in Criminal Justice and is currently pursuing a degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis on art, history, and journalism. While involved with education and public presentations, Raheem still finds time to help organize community events and volunteers her time to many local organizations.
