ATHENS, Ohio (March 14, 2006) -- Ohio University-Zanesville will serve the needs of the area students by providing variety of courses that meet the university's Tier requirements for graduation. This spring, Ohio University-Zanesville will offer dance and theater classes that satisfy Fine Arts and Humanities Tier II requirements.
"The Zanesville campus is demonstrating high quality, well-rounded course offerings found at Ohio University main campus and other institutions around the country," said Donna L. Clevinger, associate dean at Ohio University-Zanesville. "We realize the importance of meeting the needs of our students and are adding additional classes that fulfill those needs."
One Tier II class, the Theatrical Experience, Theatre 170, will look at the nature and function of theater as an art and explore the performer, space and audience interrelationship. The class is offered on Tuesday and Thursday from 10:10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Another Fine Arts and Humanities Tier class, the Dance Experience, Dance 171, will introduce the beginning student to contemporary and classical dance through discussion, live performances and studio practice. The course will meet on Tuesday and Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m.
Other Tier courses offered at Ohio University-Zanesville this spring include: Modern Asia, Philosophy of Science, Mid-East Since the1800s, Cultural Anthropology, History of Art, Great Books, Ethics, Women Studies, Geology of National Parks, Oceanography and various foreign languages.
Tier requirements provide Ohio University students with a broad knowledge of the academic fields plus skills in writing, evaluation and quantitative and symbolic reasoning.
