ATHENS, Ohio (March 30, 2006) -- The Friends of the Libraries of Ohio University are sponsoring the 16th annual reception for Ohio University Faculty and Staff Authors and Performers at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 5. The program will be held in the Class of 1951 Lounge on the fourth floor of Alden Library.
"This is an annual event the Friends hold to recognize publicly and collectively the combined output of books and major performances of the faculty and staff," said George Bain, executive secretary of the Friends. "At this year's reception we will honor approximately 45 individuals."
Provost Kathy Krendl will make brief remarks and present certificates to the honorees. Copies of many of the books and other items such as CDs will be on display, along with an exhibit of similar publications over the past century.
The event, held during National Library Week, is supported by a donation from the Ohio University Credit Union. The program is open to the public. Refreshments and flute music will be provided.
The Friends of the Libraries of Ohio University have provided support for the Libraries since 1979.
