ATHENS, Ohio (Jan. 10, 2006) -- Ohio University will be closed Monday, Jan. 16, in observance of the national Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday. The closure includes all five regional campuses and the College of Osteopathic Medicine.
The university will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 17, operating under normally scheduled hours.
Traditionally, Martin Luther King Jr. Day is to be spent in service to others. In honor of Dr. King's legacy, the university's Center for Community Service has coordinated local volunteer opportunities.
During the holiday weekend, campus dining halls will serve brunch, not breakfast, and all grab n' go's will be closed. Bromley and Shivley dining halls will close at 1:30 p.m. on Friday and remain closed until Tuesday, Jan. 17. The Corner Cafe in Baker Center, Boyd Grab 'n Go and the Oasis on University Terrace will close Saturday and reopen Tuesday.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day follows Dads Weekend so if Dad is sticking around for the long weekend, take a look at the Fun Stuff page for information about area attractions and events.
Have a safe and enjoyable holiday.
