ATHENS, Ohio (Jan. 27, 2006) -- Ohio University's Ohio Up Close program is offering high school seniors admitted for fall quarter 2006 an opportunity to look at Ohio University one more time before making a final decision on their college choice. The program will be held Feb. 3, 10, 17 and 24, and March 10.
This one-day event provides students and their families with essential information about student life, including academics, residence life and campus organizations
"The program is an opportunity for future students to really look at Ohio University from a student perspective," said Paige Alost, associate director of undergraduate admissions. "Participating students will be able to interact with current Ohio University students while classes are in session and mingle with students who are doing what they eventually want to be doing themselves."
"We hope to make future students feel at home at Ohio University. We want them to know that we want them to excel in the classroom and that there are numerous other opportunities for success on and off campus," Alost said.
At Ohio Up Close, future students will be able to confirm their enrollment for Fall 2006, activate their OAK ID, complete the housing contract and pay their housing deposit.
"The goal of Ohio Up Close is to ensure that every student leaves with all information that they may need to make a decision," Alost said.
Program activities include student-led tours of the campus, highlighting academic buildings, Alden Library Learning Commons and the Ping Student Recreation Center. Participants also will attend academic sessions tailored to their program of study, financial aid and housing information, and a separate parent's session.
