ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio (Jan. 25, 2006) -- Want to be ahead of your class when you start college in the fall? Current high school seniors will have the option to take part in the Jump Start program which is currently being offered by Ohio University Eastern.
The Jump Start program offers one tuition-free class to incoming freshman at the Ohio University Eastern Campus during the Summer Quarter of 2006. Only incoming freshmen at Ohio University Eastern will be eligible for this program. By taking advantage of the Jump Start program, incoming freshmen can earn up to 5 credit hours towards their degree, free, at no additional cost.
"Taking a summer class aids students in the transition from high school to college. It allows them to get a glimpse of what college course work is like so they can adjust better and feel less overwhelmed when the fall begins" says Jennifer Kellner, recruitment coordinator at Ohio University Eastern.
Ohio University's Eastern Campus has something of interest for everyone. Classes offered in the summer include: english, mathematics, psychology, history, chemistry, art, theater and many more.
Area high school students who wish to take advantage of this program must submit a college application to Ohio University Eastern by the deadline of March 1 in order to qualify for the Jump Start program. Current high school seniors should contact their guidance counselor for a college application form or contact the Ohio University Eastern Campus at (740) 695-1720 or 1-800-648-3331 for more information about the Jump Start program.
